Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure designed to reshape or reduce the size of the labia minora (inner vaginal lips). It is commonly performed to relieve physical discomfort caused by enlarged or asymmetrical labia, or to improve the overall appearance of the intimate area.

Patients choose labiaplasty for both medical and cosmetic reasons. Common concerns include irritation during exercise, discomfort when wearing tight clothing, pain during intimacy, or self-consciousness about the appearance of the labia.

Most patients can return to light daily activities within 7–14 days. Swelling and tenderness usually improve within a few weeks, with full recovery expected after around 4–6 weeks, depending on individual healing.

Some mild discomfort, swelling, and bruising are normal after labiaplasty. However, this is usually manageable with prescribed pain relief and typically settles within the first few weeks of recovery.

Scarring is generally minimal following labiaplasty. Incisions are carefully placed along the natural contours of the labia, and dissolvable stitches are used to support discreet healing.

Light activities can usually be resumed after two weeks. More strenuous exercise, including running, cycling, or gym workouts, should be avoided for around 4–6 weeks to allow proper healing.

Temporary numbness or changes in sensitivity may occur during the healing process. In most cases, sensation returns as the tissue heals, and long-term changes are uncommon when performed by an experienced surgeon.

Sexual activity should be avoided for approximately 6 weeks following labiaplasty to prevent complications and ensure the surgical site heals fully.
